The classic story of the mythological Phoenix is a tale of a beautiful red and gold colored bird. There is only one Phoenix and it has a 500 year life-cycle. At the end of this cycle the bird builds itself a nest of sweet smelling wood (cinnamon, frankincense, myrrh), ignites the nest, and dies. From the ashes of the old Phoenix a new Phoenix is born. The Phoenix symbolizes triumph, rebirth, and hope.
